John Pemberton and Stephen Dear formed their product design consultancy in 1987, after working together since the early 80s on various high-profile telecommunications projects at the ITT Europe Design Centre. Previously John had begun his professional career at Sinclair Radionics and Stephen at Britains Toy Models.
Several design awards, in both the U.K. and Europe were won by John and Stephen during this period, for both Sinclair Radionics and ITT Europe, a trend they were to continue once they had established Pemberton Dear; with the prestigious Eureka Award for Design and Innovation in the early 90s.
Over the years Pemberton Dear have broadened their expertise considerably, encompassing an ever-widening selection of business sectors - many of their projects require the expertise of other disciplines beyond industrial design and this has led to a close collaboration with Consultantnet - an extensive group of specialists – hardware & software engineers; physicists & optical designers; to build teams that can be brought together at short notice, as the project requires.Today, the Pemberton Dear client base has also grown geographically, with companies in both Europe and the U.S.A. They have also become involved on a day-to-day basis in the commissioning and design management of many products sourced in the Far East.
